The devices are available in three sizes: 213 cm (84 ″), 165 cm (65 ″) and 146 cm (58 ″). After the announcement of small-diagonal, glasses-free 3D UHD TVs in Japan in 2010 and the 2012cm (140 ″) ZL55 released in other markets in 2, the new series of UHD TVs is the second generation of Toshiba’s brilliant picture quality devices. Equipped with a powerful Toshiba CEVOTM 4K multiprocessor, the L9 Series delivers a stunning visual experience when watching movies, TV, video games, photos and PC applications. The new generation of devices will hit European stores in the third quarter of 2013.

UHD resolution devices contain more than 8 million pixels, so the pixel structure is not visible when sitting closer to the displays. In addition to displaying an extremely fine and brilliantly sharp image, watching TV in a relatively smaller room becomes extremely enjoyable.

The L9 UHD models are designed to meet Toshiba’s new product design concept, creating an elegant look in a modern home. The design is characterized by simple yet sophisticated styling elements - rounded corners and a circularly lit standby light.

The global electronics industry sees UHD resolution TV panels as the new generation standard, so more and more UHD-recorded content intended for large displays is becoming available. Similarly, companies developing games are also looking for ways to use UHD, since this resolution increases the quality of the graphics of the programs in an extraordinary way. In addition, more and more Hollywood blockbusters have been filmed in UHD or digitized in this quality, so they can be prepared in this resolution for Blu-ray™ disc release. "When the user watches a UHD movie on the Toshiba L9 series TV, they have an almost cinema-like experience," added Matt McDowell. Further developments also point towards this ultra-high resolution. More and more influential TV channels are planning UHD broadcasting. With the increase in the number of UHD cameras for home use on the market, such TVs are also an ideal choice for displaying still images, since every small detail in these photos can be seen clearly.

Equipped with a Toshiba CEVOTM 4K multiprocessor graphics unit, the L9 Series automatically displays lower resolution images at near UHD resolution. In addition, Toshiba's high-speed image processing technology, the 800 AMR (Active Motion & Resolution), produces vivid color images and smooth fast movements, significantly reducing image blur for sports and action movies. The L9 models are capable of displaying 3D content in Full HD, making the cinematic experience even more stunning. The largest 84 ″ and 65 ″ models can be used with passive glasses known in movie theaters, while the 58 ″ devices use active lock technology. Conversion from 2D to 3D (which also has depth control) takes existing DVD or Blu-ray ™ movies recorded in 2D to a new dimension.

The great features of the L9 Series TVs are complemented by the Toshiba Cloud TV service package, the main benefit of which is personalization. Each user can see content recommendations and social media feeds to suit their own tastes and settings. The built-in, powerful search tool searches our Electronic Program Guide (EPG), local network, and online video libraries for our favorite shows, series, movies, and more, so the user can see more than just the program broadcast by the TV channels. In addition to personalized search and content recommendation, as well as premium TV and other handy applications (e.g. web browser, weather reporting), content can even be managed using our mobile devices. The most important of the portal's many social TV services are: family calendar, sending a personal message when a program or channel has changed. The Toshiba Cloud TV service is designed so that the user can easily and simply find the service they are looking for. The simplicity, style and elegance of Toshiba Cloud TV's user interface is a key element of Toshiba's new unified TV design concept.
