65-inch LCD display with 6 ms response time from Sharp
Sharp has announced the world’s largest professional mass-produced display with a 165-centimeter image diagonal.
The PN-655 has a maximum resolution of 1920 × 1080, or two megapixels: thus meeting the latest HD standard. No specific information has yet been revealed about the connection options, but the manufacturer promises a wide range - we can be practically sure of DVI and HDMI now.
The real surprise is the 6 millisecond response time, which also allows for a sharp display of fast movements, and lifelike colors will be provided by high-quality cold-cathode backlighting. A minimum of 170 degrees is promised for horizontal visibility. The monitor uses special technology to eliminate any pixel defects that may occur.
The product will be available in June, price information is not yet available, but will likely exceed that of mid-range plasma televisions.
