Introductory
The ADO is my big favorite, which is probably due to the fact that I was able to try out 3 of their bikes. Regardless, the company is sympathetic, it was from the first moment, even before their first bike, the Z20C, which I have been using ever since, arrived at me. But why is he so sympathetic?
It is important to know that this is a fairly young business that focuses most of its efforts on the EU market. Of course, they buy it all over the world anyway, but the good news for us buyers in the EU is that we don’t have to negotiate a repair with distant China. But I'll write more about that a little later!
So, the first good thing is the EU, and the second is that they have been striving to sell bikes at the lowest possible price from the beginning. Of course, this is to be understood in the category, that is, between the bikes with the cheapest X-powered engine, Y-capacity battery, and Z distance.
It would be easy, of course, to make bikes with extreme endowments, but they compete in the most popular categories, so it’s already understandable why I love them. The prices are good!
Now I could come up with other things like the company’s goal of achieving a greener world, greening traffic and the like, but let’s face it, it’s just the usual bulshit marketingduma. They also want to operate profitably, and giving them decent quality at a low price with EU bases is a good enough reason for us / me to choose them. (I'm planning a comparative article between a Xiaomi and an ADO this spring, so you'll understand why these bikes are good.)
Company history
ADO stands for “A Dece Oasis”, which in Hungarian means “Oasis in the Desert”. This oasis is not something imagined, the naming is the famous Chinese Crescent Lake, and the oasis around it was the naming.
Lake Crescent was located on the edge of the Gobi Desert, along the old Silk Road. Of course, it used to be, now it's only a quarter of an hour's drive to the nearest big city, but the lake and the oasis around it, the pagoda next to the lake, is still a wonderful sight.
Crescent Lake is a symbol of “green” and “challenge” as well as “inheritance” and “hope” for the Chinese people. It was the last green oasis before the old travelers embarked on the challenges of the desert.
The founders of ADO found these aspects, and of course the journey itself, to be appropriate for naming a company.
ADO is a young company, founded in 2020. According to the news, the founders are potent companies, which is also clear from the force with which they exploded into the market. Since its introduction last November, 3 new bicycles have been launched this year, as well as a complete European sales and service network. I'm writing a few lines about this now!
EU service base and warranty
Many people on Chinese bikes are reluctant to buy, saying it is essentially impossible to send a bike back to China, so there is a door guarantee on it. You take it out and there is no guarantee.
I note, of course, this isn’t really the case, there are millions and there’s a solution for repair, but that doesn’t belong here right now, because with ADO, things work completely differently than with an average Chinese bike.
LET'S SEE THE DIFFERENCE!
- Lifelong technical support
- 10 year warranty on frame and 1 year warranty on structural parts - front fork, seatpost, steering wheel, brake lever, sprocket, transmission, electrical components - charger, battery, engine, controller, instrument, USB charger, accelerator handle, 2in1 switch, headlight, etc.
- After EU sales, EU service points (UK, DE, PL) can be replaced free of charge if repair is not possible
- 8-hour quick-response online service in English and German (as I read in other languages, I don't know in Hungarian)
- In case of failure, free spare parts and repair video will be sent for installation;
- Customers can also purchase spare parts from a third party, in which case ADO will share the cost.
- If the bicycle cannot be repaired in the buyer's country, it can be returned to EU centers
- If they cannot be repaired at the ADO center either, the manufacturer will provide a new bike free of charge.
I hope I didn’t miss anything, the list is long enough. The point is, in this case, that in this case we can not only order our bike from an EU warehouse, but also the subsequent full warranty administration takes place in Europe.
If a part fails, the manufacturer will send the new part through the EU centers, adding the video needed for replacement. That’s a pretty good thing, and I suspect if the repair requires service, cost sharing could come into play here as well.
It also sounds very good about lifetime support, the possibility of quick online error reporting, and the fact that, as a last resort, it should be sent back to an EU headquarters and not to China.
Bicycles
There is a lot at the bottom of a lot of talk, as a Hungarian saying goes, so let's get to the point, the bikes!
As I wrote above, the ADO stood in the popular categories for the starting line. These are the following:
- 16-inch city bikes (ADO A16)
- 20-inch city bikes (ADO A20)
- 20-inch off-road / and city bikes (ADO A20F)
- 26-inch city bikes (ADO A26)
The ADO Z20C I used has already run out, it became its successor A20F, in which the motor is twice as strong as mine, not 350 watts but 500 watts.
The company’s bikes got a 350-watt motor anyway, except for off-road use A20F-et. The front and rear disc brakes, the 7-speed Shimano transmission are standard on all their bikes, and more recently we also get a phone holder as a gift, which is good because the bikes also got a USB connector on the handlebars through which we can charge our phone.
Common to each bike is the first telescope and the A20we also get suspension under the seat.
The biggest difference, of course, is in the sizes, as shown by the type designations. The smallest is fitted with a 16-inch wheel and the largest already has 26-inch tires. The increase in size, of course, goes hand in hand with portability, meaning if someone is entering the city from an agglomeration, a 16- or inch-inch bike will be a good option because they are small, foldable, and can fit in the trunk of a car.
If transport is not required, the most practical is of course the one with the largest wheel size ADO A26, which can't be folded either.
So there is a choice, everyone can choose the right bike from the offer. But before we move on, I have an important thing to say.
Under pressure from customers, ADO has developed a new controller for its bikes. This is much more flexible and, perhaps more importantly, allows multiple levels of assistance in pedal sensor mode. Because of this, you may find bikes available at each dealer with a different type of control than the old one. The ADo has therefore chosen the option of giving the bikes with a new control to the factory a + mark.
So if you see the name of the urban 20-inch bike ADO A20 +, and that of ATVs ADO A20F +, that means they already have the new controller!
There is no need to despair for those who bought a bike with the old controller, because the manufacturer also sells new controllers that can be installed in older bikes with a detailed installation instruction.
Now the promotions can come!
ADO Christmas sale
The manufacturer will give lower prices for all four of its bikes during the promotion period. Prices are as follows:
picture | The name of the bicycle | Original Price ($) | Special Price ($) | Gift |
ADO A20 + | 899 | 799 | 1 ADO bicycle helmet
ADO A20F + | 1199 | 1059 | 1 pair of fenders
ADO A16 | 799 | 699 | / | |
ADO A26 | 1199 | 999 | / |
Click on the name or photo to buy!
As you can see in the table, you can get a discount of a minimum of $ 100 to a maximum of $ 200 per bike, in fact, that A20 + and that A20F + in case of a gift. The helmet isn’t bad either (I use one too), but the real one is the fender A20F +because without it to go off-road, especially in wet weather is not very comfortable. So if someone used the bike for off-roading, it would be worth buying it anyway, so we get it for free.
As described above, the bicycles will be shipped from an EU warehouse, automatically from the nearest warehouse. The prices always include VAT, so we don't have to reckon with paying extra VAT or customs!
The warranty period is as described above, ie for parts, we get a 1-year warranty on the frame.
Cue
I hope the above has convinced you that ADO bikes are worth watching if you want to buy an electric bike. I’ve been skinning myself for more than a year now for the first model they’ve produced, the Z20C, and I know how the new bikes today are even better thanks to the improvements.
I’m sure to make some improvements to the Z20C this winter because I don’t plan to sell it. It came in every way, so it’s worth spending a little extra money on because I want to skin it for a few more years!
