The new Celeron is twice as fast

The question is that it is twice as fast as possible, because if you have an Atom, we don’t benefit much from it.

Of course, the other participant in the comparison was not an Atom processor, but the now-available single-core Celeron 440. its price will be only $ 2,6 higher than its 9.

Fudzilla reportedly used an Intel-tested Web video conversion test running DivX 6.7 and VirtualDub 1.7.2 in the test, and found the new Celeron to be about 115 percent faster than the old one. They also ran an iTunes measurement where MP3 encoding was the task. The new processor in this test was reportedly 143 percent faster.

Sure, it would have been weird if the new CPU had been slower, but that speed difference is already significant. Hopefully soon we won’t be able to get tests that are backed up by at least screen savers, in the meantime, let’s not take anything for granted.

The new processor will debut on January 2010, 17 anyway.
