Intel freezes prices

The Tech Report has once again begun an in-depth analysis.
41549347 796cebbd7a It is probably no longer new to our readers that Intel has been the leader in the x86 processor market for years, especially in the upper category. The lack of healthy competition slows down the pace of innovation and essentially concretizes prices. Examples of this could be found in many industries, but unfortunately the x86 processor market is also on track.

In fairness, it should be noted that the Santa Clarai company has dictated a very tough pace of development in recent years. The “tick-tock” strategy left no chance for AMD, with the new generation of chips always outperforming their predecessors. However, the stagnation of prices is immediately eye-popping, and Intel has not been explicitly forcing price cuts lately.

The Tech Report, using Camelegg’s price comparison service, observed how the prices of the most popular processors have evolved over the past 50 weeks. Why 50 weeks? The answer is that the AMD FX CPU series has been around the market for about that much time, and they wanted to bring these models into the comparison as well. The previously retired processors were not accommodated, and the IT portal also made sure to show only the real price reduction, that is, for which the selected copy could actually be purchased.

50 weeks
Based on the data, it appears that there has been a significant price cut on the Intel side for the Core i3-540, i3-530 and i3-2120. AMD has been at the mercy of customers - it has been forced to do so to some extent - and here we can see plenty of processors that have gone down in price in the last 50 weeks - a great example of this is the FX-8150, which has fallen by almost 38 percent!

Placing some mid-range and high-end CPUs on a separate chart will give you an even more painful picture.

Similar trends can be observed for entry-level and mid-level solutions.

As Intel receives very little incentive to reduce prices, it will not take serious steps accordingly. Perhaps the Trinity series and the upcoming Vishera FX series may change this somewhat, but it is also conceivable that over time, AMD will need outside help. In any case, it can be filtered that the x86 processor market is taking a few turns these days.
