Again in pictures is the 6-core Core i7

This time, Gulftown is posing next to a Core i7-920.

Some new images of a developer sample of Intel's upcoming 6-core Core i7 "Gulftown" processor have surfaced on the web. The expected official launch of the new, faster than ever central unit can be done in the first quarter of 2010, until then we have nothing else to do but absorb the information that has leaked out in the meantime:

  • 6 physical cores
  • 12 threads (6 physical and 6 logical)
  • It fits into a Socket 1366 socket similar to the 45nm Bloomfield
  • 6 × 256 KB L2 cache
  • 12 MB L3 cache
  • Can be used with X58 chipset
  • Supports Turbo Boost technology
  • Integrated three-channel memory controller
  • QPI bus system
  • 130 W TDP (not 100% info)
