New low-end Xeons
An interesting roadmap for Intel’s entry-level Xeon processors has appeared on DailyTech.
Intel plans to release Conroe-based 3000 Series Xeon CPUs this September. Four such processors will land in the fall, the Xeon 3070, 3060, 3050 and 3040. Their features are summarized in the table below:
Name | Clock | Bus speed | Secondary cache size | Maximum consumption | Price |
3070 | 2,66 GHz | 1066 MHz | 4 MB | 65 W | 530 dollars |
3060 | 2,4 GHz | 1066 MHz | 4 MB | 65 W | 316 dollars |
3050 | 2,13 GHz | 1066 MHz | 2 MB | 65 W | 224 dollars |
3040 | 1,86 GHz | 1066 MHz | 2 MB | 65 W | 188 dollars |
The processors fit into the LGA775 socket like other Core 2 Duo and Pentium D CPUs. All central units are familiar with Intel Virtualization Technology, The EM64T(Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology) and the EIST (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology). Unfortunately, Hyper-Threading development is not supported by the processor family.
