Updated: AMD Roadmap, including the future of six-core monsters, with tests
We can learn interesting things about future processors, including top-of-the-line six-core models.
AMD today launched its first desktop six-core processors, codenamed Thuban. For now, two models are on their way to conquest, namely the Phenom II X6 1055T, which runs at 2,8 GHz, and the fastest member, the Phenom II X6 1090T, which has a clock speed of 3,2 GHz. The maximum consumption of both competitors does not exceed 125 Watts.
In addition to products launching today, information has been released on additional CPUs to be released in the future.
It is clear from the table that the debut of the smallest six-core, 2,6T, operating at 1035 GHz, has been postponed to the third quarter. For many, it may come as a surprise that the manufacturer has no plans to launch an additional three-core Phenom II CPU, and the quad-core 700 and 800 series are on the run, meaning they won’t produce any more of them. However, the dual-core Phenom II series will come with an update for the Phenom II X2 560, which will tick at a 3,3 GHz clock.
