I bought a Xiaomi Roborock S50, i.e. the most advanced Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaner. We both loved and used it until our sons were born a little over a year ago. From then on, however, we did not launch. The reason is simple, the apartment is small, the cubs are constantly rolling on the play mat, there is simply no time to start the robot. Yet robotic vacuum cleaners are really useful if you walk through the apartment every 1-2 days. So my couple said sell it and want a small handheld cordless vacuum cleaner instead that is quiet and you can run with it all over the apartment while the boys are asleep. The machine we now recommend is not exactly the same as the one we use, but the essentials are the same. iLife V5S Pro robotic vacuum cleaner

ILife vacuum cleaners are very popular in Hungary, and the iLife V5S Pro is one of the most purchased models, and not only because of its price, although it is the cheapest piece in this list. So good price isn’t enough for popularity anymore, you also need attractive capabilities, and the V5S has gotten quite a few extras.

The machine is also good in terms of traditional capabilities. We get a 0,3 liter powder tank, a 0,3 liter water tank - we'll talk about that later -. The battery has a capacity of 2500 mAh, which can be charged from zero to one hundred in the worst case in 350 minutes and can be saved in 120-150 minutes on a single charge. This capacity is also sufficient for an average house of 150-180 square meters, according to the manufacturer, but I would say less than that, especially if the apartment is articulated. Of course, it’s no problem when the battery is depleted because it returns to the dock to recharge itself. Speaking of the technical data, it should also be mentioned here that the undercarriage of the vacuum cleaner can overcome a 15 percent slope, the permeable threshold height is 10-12 millimeters. The machine has a low construction, so most furniture rolls down to be cleaned without any problems.

The suction power of the V5S Pro is 850 Pa, which is good in this category. The cleaning is helped by the fact that the manufacturer has mounted two round brushes on the bottom of the machine, so there really is no problem with sweeping the corners. As you can read, there is a water tank in the machine, and it follows directly from this that we also get a MOP function.

What is the MOP function? Many people say it is completely unnecessary because a robotic vacuum cleaner can’t mop just smear. It may come as a surprise, but these people are right, robotic vacuum cleaners really can’t mop in the sense of rubbing the floor with a mop. The dried raspberry syrup drops will not disappear. The MOP function is quite different. If we vacuum, no matter how strong our machine is, after the work we see that the floor is still matte. This is because a thin layer of dust always remains even after vacuuming. The MOP will eliminate this. That is, the circular brushes of the machines sweep up, sweep the garbage under the machine, the roller brush heavily rubs the floor, in a good case it also removes the stuck dirt, and the MOP finishes cleaning, removes the remaining thin layer of dust and makes the floor shiny.

What else do you need to know about the iLife V5s Pro robotic vacuum cleaner? There are other curiosities, such as remote control. This machine has not yet received a telephone application, but it does have a remote control that allows us to control the machine up to a distance of about four meters.

The V5S Pro can clean in four modes. Automatic Cleaning is clear, we start it and use its sensors to clean every part of the apartment. Edge Cleaning goes around the walls and furniture in the apartment, which means it is very good for removing cartilage that accumulates in the corners and walls. Spot Cleaning works at a designated point in the apartment, this can be used on heavily soiled areas, and for me, this feature did a good service when I smashed a glass. I collected the larger pieces, but due to the very small shards, which are almost invisible to the naked eye, I set the vacuum cleaner at the scene of the accident. Last left is Schedule Cleaning, which covers a timed cleaning. We can set the number of hours the vacuum cleaner starts to work, so for example we can schedule cleaning for a period when we are working, the kids are at school and the machine can do its job smoothly.

As you can see, the iLife V5S Pro is a really good structure. You know a lot about its price, and if you don’t feel essential to having a phone app and a wifi connection, it can be a really good choice.

iLife V7S Plus robot vacuum cleaner

I’m not going to write too much about this machine, as it’s the successor to the first member on the list. Or to be completely accurate, the successor was the iLife V7S Pro, the Plus is the successor to the Pro. There are no crazy big differences here compared to the previous version. There are fewer, there is only one round brush instead of two, however, the software is somewhat more advanced, which is likely to make this shortcoming imperceptible. There is also a MOP feature here, which is welcome. An important difference is that the water tank and the dust tank are integrated into one, moreover, the capacity of both water tanks has increased from 3 dec to 4,5 dec. The suction power has also increased, 1000 pa here as well, which predicts that the manufacturer will recommend it for larger homes despite the fact that the battery capacity has not changed.

The iLife V7S Plus is therefore an upgraded version of the V5S Pro for a slightly higher price. Roborock Xiaowa Lite (Xiaomi)

Xiaomi's first robotic vacuum cleaner was followed by a second, improved version about a year later. It came out as Roborock. These machines attacked the upper category, not without success, because for a long time in a unique way, and at the cheapest cost, they provided a laser sensor that was able to map the space around it in real time. The price was good compared to the category, but there are many who cannot or do not want to spend an amount of around 100 thousand forints on a robotic vacuum cleaner. Thinking of them, the company then introduced several new machines that were similar in their capabilities to cheaper competitors. One thing that made a big difference was that Xiaomi also provided the phone app for these vacuum cleaners, which gives you much more freedom in control than a simple remote control. Moreover, these machines can be incorporated into the Xiaomi smart home ecosystem in the same way as their more expensive siblings due to telephone control.

Roborock Xiaowa Lite is the cheapest member of this cheaper series, just over $ 200. They are still a bit more expensive than the iLife types shown above, but it also gives you more for the extra money.

The smallest difference is in the battery, which, for example, has increased by only 5 mAh compared to the iLife V100S Pro, giving a capacity of 2600 mAh. More importantly, thanks to the advanced intake system, the powerful engine and the well-designed air passage, the suction power is much higher. While the aforementioned iLife model can handle 850 passes, the Xiaowa Lite will double to 1600 passes, a significant difference. Interestingly, the noise generated by the machine did not get that much despite the higher suction power, which again only praises the careful design. Another significant difference is that compared to the iLife V5S Pro only, the dust container will double, to exactly 640 milliliters.

We also have a fat minus sign because the Xiaowa Lite can't mop it, it lacks the MOP feature. On the other hand, the many extras like intelligent control, the telephone application, extras like automatic carpet cleaning weigh a lot. The latter capability, for example, works by the vacuum cleaner “sensing” if it has strayed into a carpet, in which case it automatically switches to the highest suction power if it has not been operated on. An extra extra is that you can buy a virtual wall for this machine than the larger Xiaomi models. It is essentially a magnetic, self-adhesive strip that we can glue to the floor. This is “noticed” by the robot during operation and does not pass through it, so we can essentially delimit the part we want to clean with virtual walls.

Of course, in addition to what we’ve done so far, we’ll find the capabilities that cheaper competitors know, such as four cleaning modes, a mass of sensors to keep the furniture legs from collapsing or falling down the stairs. So smart it too, true not so much as the last machine in the article, the strongest, brightest Xiaomi.

Unfortunately, there is no extra promotion for this machine now, but the price of $ 219, or HUF 62, is still attractive. Xiaomi Roborock S50 robot vacuum cleaner

We have arrived at the vacuum cleaner that is currently the top for me. Xiaomi’s best (but not the latest) vacuum cleaner is clearly considered a further development of the Xiaomi Mi robotic vacuum cleaner. The most important thing is that the laser gun tower on the roof has been left, which can accurately map the room, the built-in computer, because here we can talk about a computer, it is able to map and plan routes in real time. The machine is running a Linux version anyway, which gives the experimenter space to even modify the program.

With this machine, we can see the improvement in one place, which is the appearance of the MOP function. Nor did it happen in any way, as it was resolved at Xiaomin to be able to wipe the entire apartment with just 1,4 deci of water. The MOP material uses a natural solution, which makes the vacuum cleaner extremely economical, allows it to run evenly and very thinly on the floor, and when the machine stops, the water does not leak further.

However, the development was accompanied by other changes. Software and sensors have evolved, and, importantly, the already negligible suction power has been further strengthened compared to its predecessor. The predecessor’s 1800 pascals were raised to 2000 pascals, but in the meantime the noise not only did not increase, but perhaps even decreased, but it was also possible that only the pitch of the sound changed so that it was less disturbing. This, of course, had to be modified by air. It is important to add that we can eliminate this relative loudness by twisting the suction force down, because of course we can do this through the telephone application as well.
