The support model for the AMD driver is changing again

We recently reported that for graphics drivers prior to the HD 5000 series, new drivers only appear on a quarterly basis. Now changes can come again.

The AMD driver support model is changing again 1

At the time, it seemed that we would receive monthly updates for the other video cards, but the information that has been leaked now basically refutes this. With the release of Catalyst 12.5, AMD is abandoning the current schedule, so the driver is not expected to be ready until next month. According to the programmers, such a fast-paced update is too complicated, since two teams have to be maintained. One is working on the current drive, while the other is already working on the next release. This can obviously cause many complications and make it difficult to make more far-reaching changes. Based on the new model, the appearance is not limited, so you may have to wait 2-3 months for a new WHQL-certified display control program, but it guarantees high quality. Due to urgent repairs, "hotfixes" and "preview drivers" may still occur. One beta driver, for example, is currently being tested. This will be officially available next week. Its installation may be recommended if you have a Radeon HD 7000 series graphics controller and have noticed problems while using your Eyefinity system.
