A third preview of Internet Explorer 9 is available

The latest test version offers new features and higher performance.

Microsoft is making good progress with the development of Internet Explorer 9, as evidenced by the third preliminary (Platform Preview 3) appearance. There was considerable interest in the program, as the IE9 Test Drive website was already visited by 16 million people.

The current IE9 release provides improved HTML5 and CSS3 support along with new features (HTML5 audio and video tag). Based on Acid3 test results, compatibility was significantly improved: IE9 PP2 68 points, PP3 83 points. Microsoft has compiled some short video, where it demonstrates the capabilities of the browser.

According to the SunSpider JavaScript benchmark, there will be no performance complaints either, as the new version also approaches Google Chrome with 347 milliseconds. Support for the Chakra JavaScript engine, multi-core CPUs, and hardware video acceleration ensures seamless rendering.

It’s all nice and good, but when will the final version be made? The Redmond giant is working with steam power, but they can’t say an exact date. Rob Mauceri, chief executive of Internet Explorer, said the release date should not be at the expense of quality. After such signs, competing developers need to tie up what to tie!
