AMD Athlon X64 2 5200 +

AMD has unveiled the current most powerful version of the Athlon 64 X2 family of processors, the 5200+ CPU, in beautiful silence.

The dual-core Athlon 64 X2 5200+ runs at 5000 GHz, similar to the previous top model (2,6+), the only difference being the doubling of the second-level cache, which has been increased to 1 instead of 2 MB so far. This led to an increase in CPU consumption, while the 5000+ had a TDP of 65 watts, while the 5200+ had a figure of 89 watts.

The list price for the new processor that fits into the AM2 socket is $ 1000 for a 403-piece order. In contrast, it can cost almost exactly the same level of performance by 5000+ $ 102 less. This is a significant difference, especially considering that even AMD spokesman Damon Muzny says we can’t expect a more significant difference between the two CPUs.
