Intel: 4 GHz for 2008!
Intel promises its first desktop processor for 2008, which will reach and exceed the "magic" 4 GHz limit.
Built on Nehalem’s microarchitecture with 45-nanometer manufacturing technology, Intel’s Bloomfield clock can finally cross 4GHz, which the 3,8 GHz Pentium 4 and 570 processors have been the closest to previous generations.
The quad-core CPU, which will be released in 2008, will fit into the so-called Socket B socket, and its second-level cache will be 8 MB in size, while the power consumption will remain below 130 W.
