Free PDF Compressor

PDF documents aren’t exactly famous for their economical file size, but luckily this can help with this problem.

With Free PDF Compressor, you can shrink your PDF files to a smaller size. It has a similar effect as compressing into a ZIP archive, but the advantage is that it does not need to be compressed before opening, it can be read immediately with Adobe Reader.

Publishing our home-made PDF documents on the Internet is thus much more efficient, as we can upload them to the server faster, take up less space on our storage space, and users with slow connections can download them sooner.

It works by storing multiple items in a document only once, and takes advantage of the latest compression technologies introduced in the new PDF specifications. The disadvantage, of course, is that you need the latest Adobe Reader to view it, but it also allows you to extract compressed PDF files so that it can be made compatible with older versions.
