A seemingly official roadmap from AMD

As early as the end of 2007, the entire R600 card family can be renewed.

VR-Zone employees, citing an AMD source, have compiled the following roadmap for the R600 cards.

In addition to welcoming new GPUs in the categories already released, the hole between the top HD 2900 XT and HD 2600 cards will also be patched by the manufacturer. The primary function of the RV660 / 670 is likely to be to replicate the success of the X1950GT / Pro. It is clear that AMD will switch to 55 nm in GPU production, which is unknown so far, hopefully this time there will be no production technology problems hindering the appearance of the cards. The first samples are planned for September, while mass distribution is planned for January 2008.
