First of all, let’s start by saying that the term we tried in the title is not true at all, because on the one hand only I tried it, on the other hand this trial is now in its third month. When I decided to replace my nearly twenty-year-old, similar live razor, it was clear that I could only buy Xiaomi because I wasn’t disappointed in them yet, plus I could connect the pleasant with the useful and write an article about it.

Well, what you read here is the useful part, and I enjoy the pleasant part every morning as I stand in front of the mirror to get rid of my unshaven.

Packaging, accessories

For some reason, I expected a box smaller than what arrived. I can’t tell you why, because opening the roof, the razor took up almost everything, at least in length. The structure is not in the usual or rather expected soft tray anyway, but travels to us in a relatively rigid plastic bed.

If we lift out the razor and lift the plastic, we will find the box that hides the accessories. Well, you don't have to expect too much here either, because all we need is a charger and a small brush to fall into our lap, and we get a help written in ornate Chinese. Fortunately, there are a lot of pictures in this, so we can handle it. Of course, anyone who has seen a razor with a circular knife up close will not be in doubt without a description.

What does Xiaomi's razor know?

This is the company’s third facial hair removal device, but the first to be made with rotating knives. At Xiaomin, we have become accustomed to working with other companies on most of the products marketed under their name, and after all, they may not understand everything. In this case, too, it was no different, with the help of Remington in the design. There are a number of high-quality products available under the Remington brand, including countless quality razors.

Xiaomi Mijia is made with steel parts from Japanese and Swedish imports. The blades are arranged in two circles on the knives, with 5 pieces on the inside and 10 pieces on the outside. The interesting thing about the blades of the outer circle is that they are double, that is, two work side by side. A thin steel blade stretches, lifts the hair, and a thicker one cuts it. Shaving is facilitated by the fact that the head also moves, as well as the three parts containing the circular knife, so it follows the line of the face perfectly while shaving.

Among the extras, there is the MABUCHI 260 engine, which is said to be very good and can run at two speeds. Another interesting feature is the warning LED, which lights up when the knife gets stuck, for example if we forgot to clean the razor. In addition, we also find a locking function that, when activated, the shaver cannot start accidentally, for example if you throw it in the travel bag and something presses the button. Plus, the structure has IPX7 water protection, which is good for two things. One is that we can safely put it under the tap to wash it out, the other is that we can not only shave dry, moisten the face to taste or even use shaving foam.

I would like to draw your attention to another important and at the same time very useful feature. I haven't tried it, but according to the attached description, the bottom of the razor can be snapped out, so we can access the battery, which we can replace if necessary. This is really useful because if we use it a lot, charge it, immerse it, it is expected to be the battery that gives up the fastest, however, by allowing it to be replaced even at home, it has greatly extended the life of the razor.

Use and experience

When I took it out of the box right away I had the usual good feeling, I knew I wasn’t giving my money out for stupidity. The plastics used, and so on the materials used in general, are first-class, which means that we feel very good in our hands.

If you haven’t used a similar structure yet, it’s important to know that circular razors can be used effectively if you use them every day. The long, but if your beard grows fast, they won’t even get along with the two-day weave, they make shaving a painful operation. So only buy one if you use it on a daily basis, otherwise you will do better with a beard trimmer.
I can’t describe much about shaving other than being perfect. Of course, this was to be expected, as we will find new knives in it that are suitable for cutting. I don’t like dry use with circular razors myself. My baby’s skin on my face likes to pop out of it when I cut my hair dry, so it was also very important to me when choosing that I could use the razor with a little shaving cream or foam. Of the two grades, I use the faster one, the slower one might be enough at a younger age if the facial hair is a little weaker.

When you have finished shaving, you should wash your razor. It is my custom to bounce off the top containing the knives every time and wash them under running water, as well as keep the razor under water. I also take out the knives once a week - it's a simple operation - so I wash the structure properly once a week.

At first I thought I would keep the charger on the bathroom shelf, setting the razor when not in use. After all, it didn’t, because the Xiaomi Mijia razor allows you to shave for a minimum of 50 minutes on a single charge, so you need to charge it quite infrequently, it’s unnecessary to always keep it on the charger. Anyway, it stops fixed on its “base”, so setting it up takes up too much space on the shelf.

Conclusion

I described everything essential in the article, so maybe you too can feel that I am satisfied with both my razor and my decision to stay with Xiaomi in this area as well. The price of GearBest is 40 dollars, which is 11 thousand forints at today's exchange rate. At home, circular razors, of course, the noname versions start at 4000 forints, but for a Remington top model with knowledge similar to the Xiaomi, they also ask for 32 forints. So I’m not saying there’s nothing cheaper than that, but compared to its knowledge and quality, I still think it’s worth ordering from outside, like, say, paying at least double that amount at home for that knowledge.
