To understand why it is good to know the difference between traditional LCD displays and AMOLED panels. Of course, there are a number of differences, but perhaps most importantly, while in the case of an LCD you have to keep a backlight behind the display to see an image, in the case of AMOLED each pixel can be considered a separate small lamp, more precisely a light source. This is a significant difference for several reasons. On the one hand, the image will be much more contrast, because where there is no light (the display is black), there really will be no light, the pixel will not light up. In the case of the LCD, the pixel didn't work either, but there the backlight was faintly filtered, so the black was never black, it was always a bit gray.

In our case, i.e. in the case of the Always on Display mode, it is not the contrast ratio but the consumption that will be relevant. If we wanted to reduce power consumption on an LCD display, all we could do was turn off the backlight, so the image went dark, we didn’t see anything. In the case of AMOLED, however, we do not have to completely darken the panel, it is enough to turn off most of it. And Always on Display mode does just that. It turns off the vast majority of pixels, but the exact time still stays on the display, true only faintly, showing only the outline of the numbers. However, this results in a reduction in consumption being achieved, yet we see how many hours there are.

Now, the thing is, basically every watch with an AMOLED display knows this feature, except the Huami Amazfit GTR. He didn't know exactly, but now he does. True, the feature is a bit silly, it can only display the time in Always on Display mode in one way, but at least it already is. We don’t really understand how this feature could have been left out, since, anyway, the clock is doing really well!

The Amazfit GTR is available in two sizes, with 47 and 42 millimeter dial diameters. The smaller ones will be good for even ladies, although we can't say that for little ones.
