First information about the Turks family

Representing the heart of the Radeon 6500 and 6600 series, some new data has been revealed.

The graphics processor called Turks will be the drive engine for the Radeon 6500 and 6600 families, respectively. The two series will replace the Radeon 5500 and 5600 families in the Evergreen line, which featured a Redwood chip hiding the 400 stream processor. Turks, like its predecessor, is also made with a 40nm process, but the number of stream processors has increased from 400 to 480, while the number of ROP units has doubled. Interestingly, the recommended memory chips prescribe the DDR6500 standard for the smaller 3 series and 2 GB for volume, the viability of which is highly questionable in this category. The 6600s, on the other hand, already have GDDR5 chip type and the volume is 1GB. In both cases, the width of the data bus between the GPU and the memory will be 128 bits. Interestingly, the memory bandwidth thus shows exactly the same values as its predecessors, ie the Radeon 6570 has the same 28.800 MB / s as the Radeon 5570, while the Radeon 6670 has this value of 64.000 MB / s, the same as with the Radeon 5670.

First information about the Turks family

For the Radeon 6570, the graphics processor is ticking at 760 MHz, while the 2GB of DDR3 memory is ticking at 1.800 MHz. At the big brother, the Turks already runs at 800 MHz, while the 1GB of GDDR5 memory is effective at 4.000 MHz. Far Eastern colleagues were lucky enough to have two such copies and took advantage of this to take two images where the GPU-Z and 3D Mark 06 can be spotted. Apparently, the former software is not really familiar with the new development yet, as it was able to establish very few parameters.
