A wandering but startling result from Nehalem

A 1MB Super PI was run on a developer instance of the processor family debuting next year.

We came across an interesting screen saver and the result in it among the mazes of the internet. Although even the 45nm Yorkfields aren’t commercially available, early next year’s Nehalem with a 2.66 GHz clock, 1333 MHz FSB, 32 KB first level and 8 MB second level cache has been put to a short test by the Super PI By running 1 MB. With the exception of caches, these parameters correspond to a current E6750.

A wandering but startling result from Nehalem

The result is more than staggering, compared to the E6750’s 15-17 second time, Nehalem’s 8.328 second result is virtually halved. Of course, you don't have to take the above information for granted and immediately trash the current Core 2 CPUs, the 444 MHz FSB shown in the picture and the 1333 MHz bus speed are difficult to reconcile, and the 0,080 V operating voltage is too energy efficient. it seems.
