The 8-core Nehalem-EX will arrive later this month

2010 will be a highlighted year for processor core growth, with six-core CPUs coming on the desktop front, while eight- and twelve-core CPUs will soon be available in the server market.

Intel’s long-awaited eight-core Xeon processors are scheduled for release this month, roughly coinciding with AMD’s 12-core Opterons. Eight-core server CPUs with 45nm fabrication technology are also owned by Hyper Threading, so data can run on 16 threads. There is a DDR3 integrated memory controller, 4 QPI channels and Turbo Boost support, and the cache size is directly proportional to 24 MB.

The soon-to-debut Nehalem-EX CPUs contain 2,3 billion transistors, but using the same number of eight-core Nehalem-EX sockets on a suitable server board can work together. applications as well.

Meanwhile, of course, rival AMD is not idle either, with shipments of eight- and twelve-core Opteron processors (codenamed Magny-Cours) already underway.
