Only minor changes are expected in the SE P990i
The Inquirer was given the opportunity to test one of the models still in "beta" condition.
We recently reported that your smartphone is coming soon. Well, now more specific information has come to light. Key news, changes, features of the Sony Ericsson P990i:
- Symbian 9 operating system with UIQ 3 interface
- 3G (W-CDMA) and WiFi wireless services
- Built-in Opera 8 browser
- 80 MB built-in memory, 64 MB Memory Stick included
- Business card reader
- Play 30 fps videos
- Existing programs will need to be recompiled
- Philips ARM 208 processor (PDA part), Ericsson EMP processor (phone part)
So Sony Ericsson has stayed with the already well-proven look and recipe of the P9xx series and made only minor but more useful changes to the P990. In addition, two entry-level models will be introduced soon, namely the J220 and J230. The new smartphone will arrive in the first quarter of 2006 at a hitherto unknown price.
