Parade of Chieftek houses in the heat

The DF-01B is already a much more interesting piece. Although it comes in a plain cardboard box, after unpacking we can meet a lot of interesting things. It is clear that this house could be an entry level home solution. However, this entry level should be mostly about the price, as we get plenty of service. Let’s start there with the fact that the front panel was no longer carved with an ax, but with a smaller cart, which made it possible to create a little more detail. We could even call it a designer, hopefully this will not anger the “designers” of the Chiefs. We have the option of installing three 5,25- and one 3,5-inch units. We don't have a lot of outputs now, we get the two USB ports in addition to the usual audio output and input.

Now come the curiosities! It is interesting from the outset that we find the power supply at the bottom, which is not usual at Chieftek, but we love this solution.

The next interesting thing is cooling. There are two holes on the back panel through which water cooling pipes can be led to the external heat exchanger. Nowadays, however, liquid coolers are not so popular as better and quieter air coolers can be purchased. The manufacturer is also prepared for this. No less than six 12-centimeter fans can be installed in the housing. Two of these can be placed on the side, two on the bottom front and one on the front and back. We have to take care of getting them, the manufacturer does not give them to the house. This can even be a disadvantage, but we know from experience that the valves included in the houses are worth replacing with more expensive pieces, then why pay the weaker airs in the price of the house.

Another important momentum is that the hard disks and optical drives can be mounted screwlessly, as well as the fact that the manufacturer supplies rubber mounts under the power supply to reduce vibration.

The structure of the house seems stable anyway, it doesn’t squat and neck. The painting is normal, even, average.

As we have written above, the field of application is best imagined in the home market for higher performance machines, although due to the large number of fans, server building is also unthinkable.
