Blu-ray drive in Apple machines?

The rumor that we will be able to assign a Blu-ray drive to a Macintosh computer in the near future seems more and more certain.

According to the latest information, the first copies of the Mac Pro desktop and MacBook Pro portable notebook computers equipped with a "blue laser" optical drive are expected by February 2007. Of course, these are just rumours, Apple has not confirmed this, but as we know, all rumors in the world of computer technology have some basis in reality.

By comparison, a standard MacBook Pro is currently available for $ 1999, while a Sony VAIO notebook equipped with a Blu-ray unit is priced at around $ 3000 to $ 3500. This means that the California company’s product could be marketed at a competitive price even with the new optical drive.
