Introducing: USB 3.0 reloaded

We take 2,5-inch storage boxes in advance because we don’t measure them. The most important feature of these products is portability, so it is also important to be as sensitive to injuries as possible.

ViPowER's product called Cupid is partly in line with this, as the rigid aluminum cover protects the viny. The protection is incomplete because it is not equipped with internal vibration protection, so it is not good to tap during operation. A green LED on the product indicates operation. The manufacturer also provides an imitation leather case with its product, which can effectively protect it from scratches.

The second small device (Chieftec CEB-25S-U3) came from Chieftec. As expected, the biggest difference between the two devices was the exterior. Interestingly, although Chieftec is a bigger name, now the ViPowER product is what we would prefer to buy.

The wall of the Chieftec container is thinner and glossy, which is not good for fingerprints or scratches either. Plus, this product is more of an Asian design if you understand what we mean.

The strangest thing is the two screws holding the back half of the house, which is a fact that can be opened with everything from a knife to a small spoon, but reminds us of old Russian products, in which the PCBs were fixed with similar screws. Of course, judging the outside is subjective, so look at the pictures and decide soberly.

Units that accept 3,5-inch hard drives may also come. Let’s start right away with the docking already mentioned, if only because it forms some transition between the two groups.

The gadget is clearly designed for desktop use, and because of its shape, it’s hard to imagine anyone wanting to carry it, although there must be such a warped individual. At the front of the device you will find the operation light, at the back there is a power switch, a USB connector and a power connector.

I think you have already figured out what makes the transition between the two groups. Because we can also use 2,5 and 3,5 inch drives in this. To do this, slide an adapter into the top slot so that smaller storage bins do not wobble.

So when viewed from the back, we have a terrible feeling of lack of the device, which greatly reduces the value of the dock. We don’t hear a raspy sound from him saying, you’re going to die Obi-Wan!

We started with ViPowER, let's move on! The second 3,5-inch device already looks like a blood external storage, of course, as we mentioned it’s just a box, we have to buy a hard drive. We don't meet a lot of chillies now either. The operation light is on the edge of the rear front, which is not very lucky, just as there is no switch. True, since a USB device is enough to unplug from the machine, however, as an external power supply provides power it would still have been nice if we could unplug it.

Compared to the small salt, we get thin side walls, plastic front and back fronts. It’s not so “cool”, but since we don’t carry it but just stand on the table, the wall thickness isn’t that important. On the other hand, it is important that the surface is not shiny, which is why we do not have to turn to the police to read fingerprints, if we want to do such an activity.

Last left was the Chieftec device (Chieftec CEB-35S-U3). Externally, it’s exactly the same as the smaller piece, so much so that the amusing-looking screws are also watching there on your butt. A disadvantage compared to ViPowER is the fingerprint-sensitive surface, but this is not so important in this case - again, we will not carry it. Anyone who likes more design solutions will surely choose this, whose practicality is more important than the previous one. What I like is that the main switch has not been forgotten about this, so it can be easily unplugged.

The measurements remained at the end of the page. We weighed a "traditional" USB 2.0 and external drive with a SATA2 hard drive, and next to it the new USB 3.0 3,5-inch drive enclosures to which we screwed a SATA3 drive. Although you may have already encountered a similar measurement on our site, repetition never hurts!
