Introducing: Silverstone ML06 - HTPC for the discerning

Picking the house out of the box is the first thing that shows how light it is. According to the manufacturer, it weighs just over 2 kilograms, if we want to be quite accurate, it weighs 2,1 kilograms.

The second thing that may show up is the plethora of vents. We find one above the power supply, one above the motherboard, and even, from the front, the entire right side of the housing is a large grid.

Despite the low weight, no plastic cover elements are found for the ML06. The entire housing is made of metal, and the front panel is made of thick aluminum in the usual quality of SilverStone.

Let's walk around the house!

You can already read from the front that it is aluminum. The plate matches the color of the housing cover at the bottom and top, but the middle band is brushed. The power button is half hidden on the front panel, but the reset is almost completely lowered, so it is not easy to press it. Hidden between the two buttons are the standard LEDs, i.e., the power-on status and the hard disk operation indicator.

This solution came in very handy for us, because while watching a movie, the bright-bright LED does not brighten our eyes, the emitted light is only reflected from the metal plate. Spectacular, elegant and useful solution! Of course, there is also an opening for an optical drive on the front panel, and its size makes it immediately clear that a standard 5,25-inch drive for a desktop computer cannot be installed here.

Seen from the front, the cover on the left is completely unused. On the right side, on the right, you will find the usual connectors, i.e. the two USBs, the microphone input and the headphone output. It is important and commendable that both USB connectors are USB 3.0 standard!

The back cover doesn’t hold much excitement. This is where the motherboard and of course the power supply will peek out. The window of the latter is small, which shows that not only the ODD but also the power supply cannot be a solution for a normal desktop.

As mentioned, there are two ventilation grilles on the cover. One can hold up to a 12-inch venti underneath, and the other is located above the power supply.

The house is painted matt black with a very slightly orange finish. Unfortunately, the interface “collects” fingerprints quite well. The thickness of the plate of the housing looks good from the outside, but after unscrewing, it will be revealed whether the plates are only well stiffened or really thick.

Let's see the most interesting part, ie the internal structure!
