Intel will be launching additional desktop processors soon

The company’s product offering will be expanded with a new Core i3 and a Core i7 early this summer.

At this year’s Computex show, where a plethora of new products from different vendors will be unveiled, Intel will also line up and launch two new desktop processors. One will be the strongest member of the Core i3 series, while the other will be a multiplier-free quad-core.

The Core i3-550 model will be made with a bandwidth of 32 nm and will be clocked at 3,2 GHz. In the technical set, we also find Hyper-Threading technology, which can handle four threads with two physical cores. The product will be based on the K0 stepping, which will greatly improve the tuning rate, as the newcomer can operate up to 4,8 GHz and this is stable with air cooling.

The other novelty is the Core i7-875K, which will land on store shelves in June or July. In addition to Hyper-Threading, it supports Turbo mode, which automatically raises the clock of active cores when needed. The letter K at the end of the name indicates nothing more than that the CPU belongs to the “Extreme Editions” class and in addition its multiplier can be freely adjusted. The native quad-core clock will be 2,93 GHz. Here, however, it is not the K0 stepping that takes effect, but the older B1, which was also used on the Core i7-870. The 875K is otherwise technically identical to the Core i7-870, so no improvement in speed is expected.

The price tags for the two Lynnfield models are still unknown. However, based on an internal roadmap, it can be concluded that the Core i7-875K will be at the same price level as the Core i7-860, which means that you will have to pay up to € 240 for it. Intel is sending this quad-core to fight against six-core codenamed AMD Thuban.
