Two charcoal from Intel's new processors

Yorkfield and Nehalem - our current keywords.

Surely many still remember October and December to our articles where we talked more about the Penryn generation - spiced up with measurements, of course. Promises were made that the deprivation of the throne should have already begun on the shelves of the shops, but this has not yet happened to this day. Although the Wolfdales are moving slowly into the country, they are far from sufficient.

In the case of the Yorkfields, the situation is even worse, as Intel has been postponing their release for some time (presumably due to Phenom's not-so-successful launch), although the manufacturer has reported to the press several times that quad-core To Penry. This mostly seems like a fairy tale, as only the QX9650, which is currently offered at a very peppery price, will not flood the market, and the much-anticipated quad-core without X will only be in the second half of the year.

Related information is also that Intel’s next-generation processor, Nehalem, is likely to be 20-30% larger than its pending rival, K10.5. This can be disadvantageous in the long run as the larger chip consumes more, i.e. it produces more heat, which is negative in several respects (for example: G92 vs. RV670).
