The first ePaper-based tool

IRex Technologies has introduced the first ePaper-based handheld.

The main advantage of ePaper is that it is thin, flexible and easy to read. It actually consists of many tiny balls with two drops of paint in it; under the influence of electric current, either one or the other is displayed and thus displayed. Named iRex ER 0100, the device includes an 8,1-inch-diameter ePaper with a resolution of 1024 × 768 and 160 dpi. The machine is powered by a 400 MHz Intel XScale processor with 64 MB of RAM and 224 MB of ROM, but you can also find CF and SD card slots on the device, as well as USB host capability (at least as described, it supports USB sticks ). The input is provided by a touch screen, and you can also connect to the Internet via WiFi. The iRex ER 0100 supports text, HTML and PDF files as it is mainly intended for reading e-books. The expected release is April, the price is still unknown.
