AMD: NVIDIA pays developers

According to AMD, games only use PhysX because NVIDIA transfers a bumpy amount to them if they use it.

The accusations were made in an interview with Ruchard Huddy, senior development relations manager at AMD, in which he strongly criticized NVIDIA for distributing PhysX.

In recent years, NVIDIA has managed to set foot in a lot of programs thanks to good marketing, you know what its name is: money. Huddy has repeatedly pointed out that developers don’t really like PhysX, but they get good money for it, so they deal with it.

“The problem is that game developers don’t really want to… They don’t do it because they want to, they just get paid for it properly. So we have a pretty artificial situation about this right now, there’s PhysX in the games, but not because I want it so much to be there, ”Huddy said. He also said that NVIDIA used its marketing machinery to publish PhsyX titles.

Huddy thinks there are very few developers who are really interested in PhysX and is sure that AMD’s GPU-supported physics is at least as viable an alternative.

“I think our own technology will also work. If you have an open standard, everyone can join it and everyone is free to do what they want, it’s not about how money can distort the market. ”

Although NVIDIA has already released many PhysX titles, AMD Havok is still nowhere to be seen. Maybe AMD should pay the developers too, apparently NVIDIA has come up with this method.
