Alonso and the case of spyware

One of the spyware programs that specializes in obtaining banking data scares you with fake news about Fernando Alonso.

It is not uncommon for virus writers to try to gain the trust of users in connection with an event or event of great global interest, through false news, and thus infect as many computers as possible. Nor is it unusual for rumors about world stars to be used to spread their malware as widely as possible. As part of their latest campaign, they are sending emails containing fake news about Fernando Alonso.

Panda Security staff have confirmed that a malware has indeed emerged that is trying to spread through emails containing fake news related to Fernando Alonso. According to the message of the infected letters, the Formula 1 driver suffered an accident in Bilbao and was seriously injured. The emails also include a link to a video illustrating the crash. However, nothing in the message in malicious emails is true, it is for deceptive purposes only. Of course, the link to the alleged video is also fake, because if the user clicks on the link, the malware will be downloaded and then installed on the PC.

The malware, which is also suitable for keyboard monitoring, was named Panda Security Banker-LGC. Luis Corrons, the technical director of the security company, says this is not the first time they have tried to spread computer malware through fake news. For example, a similarly threatening malware was discovered a few weeks ago, but it was trying to install a Gaobot worm on the systems at the time.

Spy programs that enable the logging of keystrokes and phishing are also causing more and more serious problems worldwide. While traditional phishing attacks lead users to deceptive websites where confidential data is collected, keyboard monitoring programs try to capture as much information as possible "locally".
