If anything, this fact shows that WIFI 6 is really ready for launch.

WIFI ALLIANCE has launched the WIFI 6 certificate program

It’s been a long time since the new standard arrived, and not specifically in terms of network speed. With the ac standard devices, good speeds have been achieved so far, until we have hung too many devices on our router, because then the theoretical bandwidth has significantly decreased depending on the number of WIFI devices used.

Of course, the speed will also increase with the new standard (from 3,5 Gbps to 9,6 Gbps), but this is not the biggest achievement. Nowadays, portable smart devices and smart home appliances from lamps to refrigerators to air conditioners are gaining more and more space. This means that the WIFI solutions currently in use are proving to be scarce to serve the multiplied fleet of devices. WIFI 6 will have a significant advantage in this area, as a number of technological innovations will help a large number of devices to connect quickly. For example, routers using the new standard will be able to transmit data to multiple wireless devices at the same time, will be able to communicate with multiple devices on the same band, and will be able to optimize its connection to the router. Taken together, these capabilities can provide a solution to the extreme fragmentation of theoretical bandwidth.

The certificate program mentioned in the title has already started. This means that companies in the WIFI Allinace can request that their new devices be tested so that they can receive the WIFI 6 mark if they meet the new standard. Interestingly, the new Apple phones are already WIFI 6 capable, and although Apple is a member of the WIFI alliance, it hasn’t asked for its device to be authenticated for years, so officially the first phone that will be WIFI 6 capable will be the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.
