Toshiba has introduced the TV of the future!

At least they think that’s the television of the future, and I’m just a nobody, so I’m not arguing with them.

The Toshiba Cell Regxa 55X1 really stands out from today’s televisions. It received an LED background change, which made the contrast ratio exceptionally high at 5000000: 1. The screen illumination has been divided into 512 zones, giving even light in the far and middle areas. In addition, the brightness is 1250 cd / m² and the refresh rate is 240 Hz. The diagonal is 55 inches, and the resolution is, of course, full HD, i.e. 1920 x 1080 pixels.

By the way, the television also includes the Cell chip that is in the Playstation 3, so the device has been endowed with many intelligent solutions. For example, you know the DLNA standard, which allows you to access media content on your local network, but it also solves the ability to play Internet content. In addition, it uses a new technology to scale up low-quality videos on the Internet, giving you a better picture quality than traditional solutions. Roaming the Internet is made possible on the Toshiba television using the Opera browser.

Such a multimedia device is also expected to be able to record streams. Of course, the Toshiba Cell Regxa 55X1 provides that, not even that. It has a 3 TB built-in hard drive, of which 2 TB is reserved exclusively for recording broadcasts and serving the Timeshift function. It can record the transmission of eight digital channels simultaneously to this huge storage area, and we can also watch these channels simultaneously, as a special picture-in-picture function allows the display of 8 channels.

The device will be available for purchase in December this year, but only in Japan. We do not yet have information about the date of European introduction and the prices here.
