At the world’s largest imaging exhibition, Sony is placing more emphasis on photography than ever before.
Nikon at Photokina 2012 September 18-23. The Photokina exhibition in Cologne will be an excellent opportunity for Sony to showcase its commitment to professional and creative imaging to an expert and interested audience. The company showcases a full range of digital cameras, camcorders and accessories, including its new flagship model, the α99 semi-transparent mirror camera, the Cyber-shot RX35 with 1mm full-frame sensor, and the full-frame sensor. NEX-VG900 E-mount with interchangeable lens Full HD camcorder.

SLT-A99 full frame semi-transparent SLR camera

The soul of the long-awaited new flagship is a newly developed 24,3-megapixel Exmor CMOS sensor that works in conjunction with the BIONZ image processor to provide high-quality imaging for both still and moving images. The also newly developed dual autofocus system allows for very fast and accurate focusing, which maintains tracking focus even when the subject leaves the 19-point AF frame.

When recording a movie, the α99 supports Full-Frame Full HD 50p / 25p progressive video recording, which can be switched to 60p / 24p. The camera's movie recording capabilities have been further enhanced with Full-Time Continuous AF Movie mode, which allows the focus to follow moving subjects continuously during shooting, as well as a new dual media card shooting mode.

Cyber-shot RX1 full-frame compact digital camera

The palm-sized machine, which is much smaller and lighter than other full-frame DSLRs, has also received a 24,3-megapixel Exmor CMOS sensor. The Carl Zeiss Sonnar T 35mm F2 lens makes the RX1 a versatile camera for portrait and street photography, among other things.

Handycam NEX-VG900E full-frame interchangeable lens camcorder

The Sony NEX-VG900E, with its outstanding image quality, is the first 35mm sensor Handycam to take full advantage of the artistic potential of Sony and Carl Zeiss lenses. The 24,3 effective megapixel NEX-VG900E Exmor CMOS sensor is almost 40 times larger than its classmates.

NEX-6 interchangeable lens system camera

At the heart of the small mirrorless hybrid machine is the large Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor, which offers 16,1 megapixel resolution and Full HD video recording capabilities in SLR image quality. Combined with the BIONZ processor, it captures flawless, low-noise images even in low-light interiors at ISO 25600. The Sony NEX-6 incorporates the technical innovations of the recently announced NEX-5R: a fast hybrid autofocus system, wireless capabilities and the ability to customize the camera by downloading applications. Integrated Wi-Fi makes it easy to send photos and videos to mobile phones and tablets running the free PlayMemories Mobile app.

HDR-AS15 Action Cam

Weighing just 90g, the ultra-compact, wearable Full HD camcorder is the perfect choice for cycling, diving, parachuting and mountaineering. Carl Zeiss Tessar lens provides an ultra-wide, 170-degree view of the terrain. The Exmor R CMOS sensor enables sharp, low-noise images even in low light conditions, while the SteadyShot image stabilization system keeps images clear and shake-free. Built-in Wi-Fi makes it easy to transfer your recordings to your tablet or smartphone with the free PlayMemories Mobile app.

Professional NXCAM camcorders

The range of NXCAM camcorders has now been expanded with the NEX-EA50EH, a multi-purpose yet affordable device. The 16,1-megapixel Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor delivers excellent image quality, complete with a full range of interchangeable E-mount lenses. In terms of size, an APS-C sensor similar to the commonly used Super 35mm sensor adjusts the depth of field. The all-in-one design allows you to turn your device from a handheld camera into a shoulder portable in a matter of seconds. An image stabilized E PZ 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 OSS Power Zoom lens is included with your camcorder. NXCAM expands the range with the NEX-FS700EK and NEX-FS100EK, which are ideal for recording commercials, music promotions, sporting events and documentaries. Both come with an 11x magnification E-mount lens. The NEX-FS700EK features the new 4K Exmor Super 35mm CMOS sensor for high-sensitivity, low-noise, minimally wrinkled Full HD images. A forthcoming firmware update will allow 4K RAW bit streaming via 3G HD-SDI. Both cameras are capable of Full HD slow motion playback at both 240 and 60 fps.
