Artificial intelligence will be Xiaomi's biggest throw?

With the company’s cheap but smart tools, we can already look into the future, but the good is still ahead of us!

Artificial intelligence research is today's Holy Grail. Many people express doubts about whether it is necessary or permissible to invest money in artificial intelligence research. According to gloomy predictions, artificial intelligence will be the last invention of humanity, which will destroy us and our civilization once it "comes to life".

The interesting thing is that nonetheless, there are also companies that conduct artificial intelligence research whose leaders have clearly advocated the use of MI, or at least a restriction on its use. This is no wonder, because those who miss out are left behind, and although things can go wrong, from a business point of view it is a much higher risk to miss out on the development and use of MI.

Looking at today’s trends, we shouldn’t be surprised that Xiaomi has also embarked on the path of companies using MI. The past tense is no coincidence, as their MI lab was already opened in November 2016. Over time, Xiaomi has undergone major changes. Today, they account for 12 percent of the world’s smartphone sales, and their share of portable smart devices reaches 30 percent. In addition, the company has become the world’s largest IoT (Internet ok Things) company in recent years, with an estimated 50 million smart devices connected to the net.

You can see that the technical funds are given, and it is clear that there will be no problem with the fundamental funds either. Xiaomi has an efficient sales chain. They already have more than 100 stores in China, and last year they also opened their first European store in Spain.

Xiaomi has already partnered with many companies to flood the market with the highest quality smart devices. At the end of 2016, they signed an agreement with Philips Lightning to manufacture smart lights for them, and they have the Mi Home smartphone app for the lights and, of course, their entire ecosystem. Nokia followed in July last year. The agreement signed with them is about joint research on VR and MI technologies. And last November, Baidu was already in the line of partnerships, you won't be surprised, with them, artificial intelligence research was at the heart of the agreement, though it's also the development of Internet-related smart devices.

You can see that Xiaomi takes the task seriously, looking for partners who have the right technology in the hardware, and like Philips Lightning, they get Xiaomi’s technologies. According to the news, the Chinese company also plans to expand its current MI development team by fifty percent, and it is expected that their phones coming out this year will already be equipped with some artificial intelligence. Of course, they also get some help from the chip makers, as both Qualcomm and MediaTek prioritize the integration of MI support into their central units.

So it is already certain that whoever builds their smart home on Xiaomi’s products instead of the Google or Amazon ecosystem is not running out of dead ends. The company entered the smart speaker market as early as last year, where it competes with the Amazon Echo, for example. This device is designed to be able to work with the company’s smart devices, but it also knows features like waking up or reading us the morning news. In addition, of course, it is able to control all smart devices, be it a kettle via an intelligent socket, the company's air purifier, or even monitoring the cameras and motion sensors available as part of the security package. Xiaomi’s smart speaker, like their other smart devices, works through a cloud-based service, capable of learning, so we can even talk to it if we can’t do better things.

So Xiaomi is on the path to MI development and is preparing for the future in a visible way. And the future is clearly in artificial intelligences capable of self-learning.

If you also think you want to start your own smart home, you can do it surprisingly cheaply. You can start with the cheap smart burners, which you can buy for 3000-4000 forints, you can continue with similarly priced smart sockets and extension cords, and then crown all your devices with a much cheaper smart speaker than similar products from competitors, combining the devices into an organic unit. The nice thing is that you can buy this relatively expensive unit cheaply, for just over 10 forints.

So with Xiaomi's devices, you can arm your home cheaply with cool and smart devices, thus entering the ranks of those who use the technologies of the future.
