With Fujitsu, storage capacity requirements can be reduced by up to 95 percentFujitsu has introduced its new ETERNUS CS800 target machine, which relieves companies of problems related to continuous data volume expansion with reliable deduplication capabilities. With the ETERNUS CS800 S3 next-generation data backup target machine, disk backup can be achieved faster than ever before.

When choosing backup data technology, companies have so far been forced to choose between fast but expensive disk backups or slow but cheaper tape backups. Fujitsu's third-generation ETERNUS CS800 target solves the dilemma. The solution reduces the amount of data that actually needs to be backed up with advanced deduplication, making disk technology more affordable.

Thanks to the improvements, the ETERNUS CS800 S3 is twice as fast as the previous model, and its deduplication capability can reduce the amount of data to be backed up by up to 95 percent. The ETERNUS CS800 S3 supports seamless central data backup covering multiple branch offices and can reduce network traffic by up to a twentieth, allowing you to perform backups at night.

The ETERNUS CS800 S3 automatically handles all deduplication and data replication functions as well as hardware and software configuration. The ready-to-use solution automates and optimizes backups to match the network topography. Due to its performance and scalability, it provides complete protection for important data. It is certified for all commercially available backup software, so it can be easily integrated into your existing environment.

Available in capacities from 4 to 160 TB, the ETERNUS CS800 S3 max. It automatically transmits 5,8 TB of data per hour. In addition to the 4TB Network Access (NAS) model, an 8TB NAS model will join the offering, focusing on the special price-performance needs of small businesses and branch offices. The new SPEED mode offers even faster transfer rates to protect critical applications such as databases. Fujitsu Professional Services experts help customers using the ETERNUS CS800 S2 implement the powerful new features of the next-generation model at no additional license cost.

Jens-Peter Seick, vice president of product development at Fujitsu Technology Solutions, commented on the announcement: “Effective data protection is key to doing business. The rapid expansion of data volume that characterizes any company is a complex problem due to the increase in backup storage space and time requirements. The new generation ETERNUS CS800 S3 target machine offers a simple solution to this problem. ”

The Fujitsu ETERNUS CS800 S3 will hit the global market in October this year.
