DVD and Blu-ray movie on one disc

Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced that it will release some of its films in double format.

This double format is a pretty weird term, let’s see what it covers. The publisher plans to have DVDs on one side of the released discs and Blu-ray material on the other, and both sides are double-layered.

The publisher hopes that the film will be bought by those who do not currently have the equipment to play Blu-ray material, but believe that they will buy one sometime in the future, but until that happens they can watch the film in good old DVD format. On a DVD player.

The idea seems particularly good, the only issue still being price. Although the prices of Blu-ray films have decreased significantly in the last year, the price tags of the discs on the shelves of domestic stores still show an amount between 6 and 10 thousand forints. We feel this price is still too high for Blu-ray movie sales to gain momentum.
