Fujitsu is dynamizing - and truly making - the cloud computing

Built on a new global cloud platform, Dynamic Cloud bridges the gap between today’s infrastructures and the business requirements of the future.

Fujitsu is introducing a new global cloud service standard called the Global Cloud Platform and is launching a Dynamic Cloud solution with pre-integrated and pre-configured services to make it easier for its customers to deploy private or hybrid cloud-based services.

The Dynamic Cloud

The globally unified Dynamic Cloud services are based on the Infrastructure as a Service concept introduced in November 2009 in the CEMEA & I (Central Europe, Middle East, Africa and India) region. Dynamic Cloud provides easy application portability and supports important business processes during service migration.

This way, customers can also avoid being overly dependent on the cloud. Fujitsu is aware that the portability of data between data centers and outsourced service providers is critical, and therefore also provides an open application programming interface (API). Considering that companies are constantly evaluating cloud-based business processes and looking for faster, better, and cheaper solutions, Fujitsu’s Dynamic Cloud Platform provides easy data access and portability both between partners and into or out of Fujitsu’s cloud, then and there, when and where it is needed.

“Because you only pay for the services you actually use, customers can try out solutions before making a purchase and quickly introduce services that deliver real business value,” Kiehne adds. “This combination option sets Fujitsu apart from other cloud vendors and also prepares for additional new cloud service layers planned in the future, e.g. the introduction of the service platform. "

With the new infrastructure, customers can easily switch data management and service provision between the private and reliable cloud - this is the so-called mixed operation or "cloud bursting". The two cloud types, as well as the data exchange and seamless interface between outsourced and on-premises services, allow customers to move entire IT infrastructures to the cloud – and benefit from cost control and guaranteed service availability in a short period of time.

Fujitsu distinguishes four types of clouds: public, trusted, private, and hybrid cloud. A public cloud is a public environment that can be used by any number of individuals and companies. IT systems are largely shared among users, and because networks are not separated from each other, users typically do not know where to store their data. Public cloud is the most cost-effective solution, but it offers only nominal data security and end-to-end availability.

A reliable cloud is defined by Fujitsu and other vendors as an environment where a limited number of customers share the same cloud. By isolating the networks, this cloud offers a high level of security. Each company has its own virtual servers and storage systems, which are accessed exclusively through the virtual LAN. Fujitsu only operates trusted clouds in its own secure data centers. This solution offers economies of scale and a high level of security.

A private cloud is a company-specific environment with dedicated IT systems, individual access and sharing. It enables the definition and individual enforcement of the strictest rules. The private cloud can be operated on the premises of the company or externally. As a standard feature, Fujitsu provides a connection for the private cloud to reliable cloud environments operating in its own data centers - this is the so-called "cloud burst" functionality.

A hybrid cloud is a combination of private, trusted, and / or public cloud. Segment data and applications according to policies and business or IT needs. In the future, the spread of hybrid cloud is expected - mainly for the mixed provision of internal and external IT services. With this concept, Fujitsu allows customers to connect their existing IT environment to the cloud as well. External IT services provided from the cloud are managed by Fujitsu, while the provision of internal IT services is the responsibility of the customer. Alternatively, the customer may transfer full responsibility to Fujitsu as part of a managed service.
