The French are not asking for Microsoft software

Microsoft's products will disappear from the French Parliament's computers in a year's time.

From June 2007, they will use well-known and free applications such as Linux, the Mozilla Firefox web browser, and the OpenOffice.org office suite. It is not yet known which distribution of the open source operating system will be chosen.

The case is, of course, primarily financial, with the French Government hoping for significant savings from the changeover.
