Phishers doubled

In the first six months of this year, the number of phishing attacks has almost doubled, which also means that threats to confidential data are on the rise.

According to a Symantec security survey, more than 2006 different phishing messages spread worldwide in the first half of 157. This represents an increase of 2005% compared to the second half of 81, which also draws attention to the increasing risks posed by phishing.

Nowadays, phishers try to obtain as much confidential information as possible through most deceptive emails and fake websites. Data related to financial, banking and e-commerce services are primarily at risk.

Ollie Whitehouse, a researcher at Symantec, said that organized crime is also starting to emerge in the case of phishing, which is why data from individual users is most at risk. The expert pointed out that in recent times, phishers have been trying to obtain confidential information through increasingly sophisticated and increasingly deceptive methods. Not only do they try to deceive users, they also try to circumvent spam filters and other security solutions.

Symantec says that, like phishing, the growing number of denial of service (DoS) attacks is a growing risk. The company estimates that more than XNUMX DoS attacks are expected worldwide every day. These are done primarily through computers infected with various malware and are mostly directed against predefined websites.
