CeBIT - Boxed R600XTX pictures

For the first time, we were confronted with a huge monster in images leaked from ATI’s new card. There was also a big shock until it turned out that the OEM version would be just that big.

Thanks to VR-Zone, we can finally look at the box, ie the retail card, as well as some details about it. Although we can't really see the card completely, the pictures show that its cooling will be no bigger than the NVIDIA 8800 series, and even what it looks like can be said to be the same.

The interesting thing is that the ATI card produces a maximum of 240 watts of heat, so either the cooling was improved or the fan speed had to be increased compared to the 8800 solution.

VR-Zone also released some 3DMark scores to show the performance of the XTX. Sitting on twelve-layer PCBs, the R600 core was capable of 3xx points under 06DMark1600 at 1200 x 97 resolution, while the VR-Zone said the 8800 GTX was capable of 95xx points under similar conditions. We cannot provide conclusive evidence of the reality of the results, but it is certain that the NVIDIA tuned G80 core on the 8800 Ultra cards will loosely bring these 200 points.
