Your new Chromebook (with video) is ready to fight in 5 seconds

Thanks to the so-called "instant on", the new Samsung Chromebook can be used 5 seconds after switching on. The demonstration took place at the IDF in Beijing.

The current Samsung Series 5 and Acer AC700 Chromebooks recover in eight to nine seconds. The new Samsung Chromebook has, of course, been given a more powerful processor, which is rumored to be a Sandy Bridge-based solution. The prototype, by the way, was very similar to one of the Samsung laptops unveiled at this year’s CES, which boasted a dual-core Celeron processor. Compared to the Intel Atom N570 used so far, this would already be a significant advance. 

As a confirmation of the software side, a unique, lightweight BIOS (Coreboot) has also been created, which runs much faster than the previous implementation. Looking at the 5-second start-up, it looks like we can forget about the standby mode.

Google also recently upgraded Chrome OS, making the new system more agile and manageable than its predecessor.
