12x Blu-ray writer from Pioneer
The new writer is likely to be available for purchase as early as October.
The BDR-205 branded writer has 4 MB of buffer memory and is not surprisingly connected to our machine via SATA. Its writing speeds are as follows:
- 12x write speed for BD-R / -R DL discs
- 2x write speed for BD-RE / -RE DL discs
- 16x write speed for DVD -R / + R discs
- 8x write speed for DVD -R / + R DL and DVD + RW discs
- 6x write speed for DVD-RW discs
- 5x write speed for DVD-RAM discs
- 40x write speed for CD-R discs
- 24x write speed for CD-RW discs
