We tested the Xiaomi Mi Dual Driver (BRE01JY) earphones

Introductory
Don’t be fooled, with as much money as BRE01JY costs, very few can produce an interpretable quality earpiece. This requires a mentality like the one Xiaomi employs: the profit margin must be “kept” below 5%. What does this mean in practice? By spending the purchase price almost exclusively on the product in this way, we also get away with the 27 percent mark by ordering from China. Well, we’ll also need these “tricks” because we’re facing a lower-end product.
Presentation
The BRE01JY is a kind of transition between the traditional earbuds, which fit into the entrance of the ear canal, and the in-ear sound generator, ie the ear canal solution. This design can really come in handy for those who don’t specifically prefer the “brain plug” design. I don’t think everyone will agree with that, but I think this is the most optimal implementation in terms of comfort.
The term dual driver in the name of the product means that two dynamic drivers are housed in the headset. We plugged our heads together and came to the conclusion that the ceramic “membrane” (the second driver) presumably functions as a passive device because it is moved by air vibrated by the traditional membrane. So we feel some marketing gimmicks in the thing, but then we’re sharply separated on what the stuff is capable of.
As you can see, the packaging doesn’t deserve much of a word, obviously you can’t expect Xiaomi to pay attention to it even in a meaningful way. In fact, it is good this way, because it also serves the purpose of devoting as much of the production cost of the product as possible to sound technology.

Speaking of comfort above: the Xiaomie didn’t spare the “chicken gut,” as they were equipped with 01 meters of wiring for the BRE1,25JY. The control module is located approximately 15 cm away from the right-hand speaker, which is discussed in more detail after the picture.
I discovered two points at this point: I think it would have been worthwhile to provide a break protection for the cable here as well, and I would have solved the thing differently with the buttons. With the latter, I complain that it doesn’t stand out enough from the house, and because of the slightly tight placement, it happened to me that I didn’t print what I wanted.
The middle control button
- Press a key: answer the call
- Press and hold: reject a call
- Press a key during a call: mute
- Press and hold during a call: end the call
The volume buttons (by the way, the two extremes) are not capable of scrolling through music.
Sound quality and usage
Please note the following; on the one hand, it is an entry-level product, and on the other hand, I dare to say that I am very rigorous in testing - as I think the previous writings testify.
In my opinion, the half-ear design is inherent in the fact that the sound leakage is considerable (so our environment will also hear what rumbles in our ears) and I admit to that that the really percussive deep ones are missing. The situation is not as serious as an all-night Fásy Mulatós, but let’s face it, the earpiece is heavily lost in the range of deep sounds. The midrange is energetic enough - even beyond - even after some tone control, something can still be brought together.
The mid-range has been interesting, I could hit the average indicator the most: pretty much everything is in place, but really only pretty much. Slightly nasal, with tone management - at 910 Hz I have an approx. I tried a 5 decibel gain - maybe the detail-rich indicator can be fired with some benevolence. By default, unfortunately, not something nicely highlighted the vocals.
As the pitch is further raised, the capabilities of the BRE01JY will stand out. With a more significant emphasis (at 410 kHz) the overall picture here is quite pleasing to me, surprisingly I didn’t encounter any distortion of the sounds even after the amplification, I would even dare to say softly about the brightness and detail that it was good.
Summary
It seems that everything has its limits, at this price level (roughly 5 HUF) / even Xiaomi can't do a real miracle. What’s a good thing is that the device has excelled in terms of comfort, thanks to its low weight and gorgeous design, it can actually hide in our hearing organ absolutely unobtrusively. The sound quality is of course not world-saving, our readers with carved ears are better off avoiding it from a considerable distance. On the other hand, those who want a tab that is not at all uncomfortable to wear, or want to leave an almost ridiculously modest amount at the checkout, well, for them, the BRE000JY may be a more interesting solution. In my humble opinion, it is also not a disadvantage if the prospective buyer is a believer in tone control, because then (perhaps) we can attach to the points where the earpiece performs acceptably anyway. It won’t sound nice, but it will - well if I can live with this image disorder. The logo below is basically about what we can put together after the tone control, plus there’s a dose of benevolence next to it.
