Alternative browsers embedded in Windows (?)

The European Commission wants to end the matter later this year.

The EU executive sent a letter to Microsoft on Thursday complaining that the giant would incorporate its own browser into its operating system, which, if embedded in Windows, would hurt browser competition as Internet Explorer would become the default after the system was installed. According to the EC, Microsoft has been violating European competition law since 1996, when IE is part of the "Windows package". The document here readable.

The European Commission gave Microsoft two months to respond. If the objections are correct, in addition to a fine, the Redmondians must find a satisfactory solution to promote competition. The result can be Windows, which is now distributed in the EU without a built-in browser, or a system that can be used to select the desired browser, such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, or even Apple Safari.
