VIA mini-ITX motherboard with PCIe x16 socket

VIA Technologies ’EPIA motherboard family has been expanded with a new member, the SN.

The special feature of the motherboard with dimensions of 170 × 170 mm is that the DirectX 896 VIA Chrome9 HC graphics processor integrated in the CN9 chipset can be replaced with a full-fledged video card, thanks to the PCI Express x16 socket located on the "board".

Despite the DX9, the integrated graphics controller has not been certified as Windows Vista Premium Ready, so this means that without the use of an external video card, we have to give up the visual world of the latest Microsoft operating system with the Aero Glass interface.

In addition to the PCIe x16, the EPIA SN also has a mini-PCI slot that allows you to accommodate an expansion card, say a TV tuner. It is also worth mentioning the handling of 4 devices with SATA connections, as well as the two memory slots, which can accommodate a DDR4-2 MHz module with a total capacity of up to 667 gigabytes.
