Wireless USB devices have been announced by D-Link

D-Link's Wireless USB Starter Kit won USB-IF (ISB Implementers Forum) certification in the first round.

With wireless USB technology, USB printers, scanners, game consoles or even digital cameras can connect to notebooks and desktops wirelessly at speeds well above Bluetooth® technology. The technology is awaiting approval by the relevant EU authority, after which it is expected that these products for the retail market will be available in Europe.

Products based on the latest ultra-wideband radio transmission (UWB) standard provide significantly higher speeds - up to 480Mbps - than current short-range wireless devices, making them particularly suitable for transmitting large amounts of data within 10 meters with very low power consumption.

D-Link's now certified DUB-9240 Wireless USB Starter Kit consists of a 4-port Wireless USB Hub (DUB-2240) and a Wireless USB Adapter (DUB-1210). It is extremely easy to use: by connecting the adapter to a laptop or desktop PC, all USB peripherals connected to the hub can be accessed wirelessly.

Thanks to the certification, customers can be sure that their wireless USB device will work with the USB devices they have already purchased, as well as wireless USB products from other manufacturers.

The product will be available on international markets from October at a set price of HUF 39, while the individual adapters and hubs will cost half of that.
