Skype can be dangerous

Kaspersky Lab experts have identified two malicious viruses that target users through the popular Skype program.skype virus In both cases, cybercriminals used the social engineering method. During the attack, users are persuaded to follow a seemingly harmless link, illustrated with an interesting photo or video. Furthermore, part of the scam is that they create fake Skype IDs that are used to generate malicious links.

The first attack was launched on March 24, with users clicking on the malicious link an average of ten thousand times per hour in the last XNUMX hours. Viral references have been identified primarily in Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, China, Taiwan, and Italy. During the evaluation and analysis of the virus, experts found a so-called “Bitcoin wallet” file on the victims ’computers in each case.

On April 4, a similar attack was detected. Kaspersky Lab's experts concluded that the virus could generate Bitcoin currency if the program was already on the victim's computer.
