Vernee Mars Pro - we tried the middle class king

Vernee is a brand new company, but their phones introduced so far have been quality pieces. It is rumored that they were able to explode so quickly because they are behind a larger mobile phone company whose identity they do not want to be revealed. Well, it really doesn't matter that the rumor is true, the point is that all their phones, first to last, are loved and loved by customers, pointing out that they don't even have software updates from the devil on a regular basis.

In this article, we are introducing the Vernee Mars Pro phone, which debuted about a month and a half ago. I hit it at the very beginning of the introductory action, probably one of the first to get it, so after more than two weeks of use I can write a reasoned opinion about it.

The manufacturer prefers to name their phones from planets or ancient gods who like it. Mars is definitely the god of war, and Vernee must hurry himself if he wants to get his feet on top of the middle class. The competition in this segment is the strongest, with another throne claimer coming in almost daily. Mars Pro is well positioned by the Vernee, capable of grounding all of its opponents when it comes out, both in terms of price and performance.

Packaging and exterior

The phone came to me in a restrained white box, lifting the lid and resting in an anti-static bag. As an accessory, there is not much available today. It is a needle to insert a SIM and / or a memory card because you can choose to use a SIM card and a memory card or two SIM cards. There is also a charger, a Type-C cable and a description in the box. Charger data shows that this is a true blood charger, working at 5, 7 and 9 volts at 2 amps and 12 volts at 1,5 amps.

In appearance, the phone is essentially the same as the little brother Vernee Mars. I ordered the black model. This gives the appearance of a very elegant appearance. The sash is thin on both sides, the bottom and top are the usual thickness, more precisely the width. This makes the phone feel like a bit of a rabbit, but at the same time, its width is quite right, it doesn't want to slip out of our hands. For good grip, the backside slopes to the edges, which is much thinner at the edges of the phone than at the center above the battery. My only minor regret is that the camera protrudes from the plane of the backside, so until I can get a normal case I have to take care of it.

Even the toughest of them can't complain about assembly. The coolness of the all-metal housing, the metal buttons that do not accidentally spit, the fingerprint reader hidden under the power button, all form one whole piece of evidence that made a good horse who invested in Mars Pro.

If we look at the exterior, we should not miss the exact dimensions. The Vernee Mars Pro squeezes air out of a 74 x 151 x 7,6 mm rectangle and weighs 161 grams. This is just the amount of weight that we feel there is "material" in the phone, but it doesn't get tired of us even after a long quarter of a phone call.

Internal, hardware

For every phone, I usually start with the processor, so it will be now. Let's get started with SoC, because that's what we're going to talk about.

The heart of the phone is the Helio P25 (MT6757) manufactured by Chinese MediaTek, which runs on an eight-core, 64-bit processor. This proci contains two clusters, that is, a cluster containing four or four ARM cores. The lower cluster has four ARM Cortex-A53s at 1,6GHz, while the upper four also have Cortex-A53s at 2,5GHz. This processor runs at 16 nanometers in bandwidth, with a primary cache of 256 + 256 KB, and a second-tier 2 MB. The supported instruction set is ARMv8-A.

Integrated with the CPU is a GPU, or Graphics Accelerator, which is a Mali-T880 MP2. It has two cores and a maximum clock speed of 900 MHz.

One special feature of Vernee Mars Pro is its 6GB of memory. It is not uncommon to meet such a large amount, but usually one price range is more than 4 GB of memory. In addition, this device no longer uses LPDDR3 but faster LPDDR4X memory, which is powered by dual-channel memory controller and clocked at 1600 MHz. category. The Vernee Mars Pro is a good phone just because it's reasonably priced mid-range, but in the mid-range and high-end range.

Come on! The phone is powered by a 5,5-inch full HD IPS display from Japan's JDI, 1920 x 1080 pixels. The 24 bit color panel has a 401 ppi pixel density expected from the diagonal and resolution. According to official data, the contrast ratio is 1500: 1, the brightness is 500 cd / m2 and the viewing angle is 178 degrees. This data is eye-catching, but this method cannot measure the 95% coverage of the NTSC color space. If true, it is definitely a good result.

The manufacturer highlights two details about the display, the percentage relative to the front panel, which in this case is 74,87%, and the fact that the display panel and touch sensor layer use Full Incell technology to boil the unit the two components.

The Vernee Mars Pro received two cameras, one on the back. In front is a 5 megapixel camera. Underneath the f / 2.2 aperture lens is a 0,14-inch sensor that captures 2560 x 1920 pixels or 1280 x 720 pixels at 30 FPS.

13.jpg

Of course, the back panel camera is better. What we know about the sensor here is 13 megapixels, and the optics we know have an aperture of f / 2.0 and a focal length of 3,5 millimeters. The maximum number of pixels is 4160 x 3120 pixels for shooting and 30 x 3840 pixels for videos at 2160 FPS, which means UHD resolution! The camera has a lot of extras, there is auto focus, continuous shooting, GEO tagging, panorama shooting, HDR, face detection. For shooting, you can adjust the white balance by selecting from seven pre-programmed profiles, adjusting the ISO value from 100/200/400/800/1600 and recording in RAW mode if desired.

Unfortunately, like the previous ones, I can't give you specific details about the speaker, but after unpacking, one of the first things I did was listen to what you know musically. Finding the right word for feeling would be a surprise, not in a negative sense. Of course, no one expects a sound that resembles a home music system, but we get a very nice full, dynamic sound compared to a tiny speaker.

We also have a stack of sensors, such as proximity sensor, brightness sensor, accelerometer, compass, gyroscope, fingerprint reader.

I always leave the radios to the end, so now. WiFi supports 802.11 a / b / g / n and 5 GHz n. Bluetooth 4.0 is one of the satellite systems, and GPS and GLONASS. I'm not going to list the 2G-3G and LTE standards, just to say the point, the phone also comes with support for the B20 800 MHz band used in Hungary, so our Vodafone comrades won't complain either.

I mentioned at the beginning of the article that we also find a quick charger among the accessories. According to my measurements, from a completely discharged state - more precisely from where the phone turns off - the battery can be pumped to 15 percent in 28 minutes. I bow down in front of the engineers, fast charging is a gift on phones today that we have only dreamed of for many, many years!

Perhaps I have fully introduced the hardware, the tests are coming, and before that I am a debtor with one more data, the operating system, which is Android 7.0 on this phone.

Vernee Mars Pro tests

For the tests I ran the standard ANTUTU program, 3D Mark and PC Mark, the results of which are shown below. I also took some test shots and I will include them in the article. I'll leave the evaluation at the end with the overall impression.

Summary

As I've written above, I've been skipping the phone for weeks now. If it was a test device, I'd start to regret having to give it back now, but luckily I ordered it myself, so it stays with me!

Let's start with the measurements. unfortunately i don't have a reference phone of similar power so i can compare the numbers i get with the net. Based on these, it can be seen that this phone strengthens the mid-range in terms of CPU, graphics and memory scores. By no means would I compare it to two or three times the price of phones because it wouldn't make sense. However, with the capabilities of its current well-known competitors, it is already competing well and we still get a pretty substantial 15-20 percent price advantage over these and domestic prices.

And what is my subjective opinion about Vernee Mars Pro?

Honestly, this is my first Chinese phone. Of course, this is not true, because it is most likely that my previous phones were also Chinese, but they were not labeled with this indicator. I've had several Samsungs, Sonys and a bunch of other brands, so I was a little afraid that this "Chinese" phone wouldn't meet the standards I'm used to. Well, you put everyone at ease, he hit him, but not a little, but a lot!

12.jpg

The Vernee Mars Pro is a true first-class quality phone. It's good to take it in, it's good to use it. It's good to make a phone call, watch a video with her, and listen to music. I have no signal strength problems, no problems with WiFi or Bluetooth. You will find the satellites in no time and you have never ridiculously transferred to a parallel course while navigating.

If I had to write a negative, I'd mention three things. One is that 4K videos sometimes do. Not very, just a little, but confusing. the second is to make your speaker louder with a hair. Unfortunately, my ears are not old anymore, and it really happened 1-2 times that I had to ear heavily for what they say on the other side. The third problem with the camera, when the sun was shining and the sun reflected on the water, it was impossible to take a panoramic picture.

11.jpg

That's all, no matter how hard I rack my brain, I can't list any more "bad", so I'll say that if you want a very good phone at a very good price, don't hesitate!
