How much faster is the 512 CUDA core GF100 than the GTX480?

The answer to this question was given at Expreview.

NVIDIA seems to be starting to go beyond the initial manufacturing difficulties of the GF100 graphics processor, which may soon result in a video card that can use the spare parts left in the chip, i.e. both the 512 CUDA cores and the 64 texturizers. The name of the new model is still obscured. There were rumors in the past that mentioned GTX 485, but in the current GPU-Zs images we can see GTX 480. Looking back on the company’s earlier pull when the 192 CUDA core GTX 260 didn’t change its name when it received the 216 core, they may still stay with the GTX 480 and entrust partners with the use of “distinctive markings”. .

Expreview staff obtained a “full-fledged” GTX 480 and compared it to the model currently available. The 258.96 drive was used in the tests. In 3DMark Vantage Extreme mode, it managed to squeeze out 10 GPU points, compared to 072 points on a traditional card. The increase in texturizers also implies a texture fillrate: the previous 9521 GTexel / s increased to 38,82.

The study continued with Crysis Warhead: Tested with Enthusiast setting at 1920 × 1080 resolution with 8x edge smoothing. The 512-core GeForce achieved 34,72 FPS, compared to 480 FPS for its 32,96-core sibling.

These brief tests revealed that the full-featured GF100-based video card is about 5 ~ 6 percent faster than the currently available GTX 480, so the greens are a little closer to the AMD HD5970, but in the absence of a second GPU, it seems hopeless its capture.
