Virus Messenger - The new Mac OS X Trojan spreads through games

The previously known RSPlug Trojan has emerged as another variant of the Trojan and continues to attempt to perform malicious operations on Mac OS X-based systems.

Computers running Mac OS X have far fewer malware than Windows PCs. However, this does not mean that there is no need for defense. Many security companies point out that Mac OS X is also increasingly targeting attackers who try to exploit malware and various vulnerabilities in their operations. A good example of this is the RSPlug Trojan, which has been trying to damage Macintosh systems since 2007.

Virus Messenger - The new Mac OS X Trojan is spreading through games

The main goal of the RSPlug variant that has appeared in days is in fact no different from its first version released in 2007. All of this means that the latest RSPlug also seeks to change the DNS settings of infected systems. If it succeeds, it can make unwanted redirects on the affected systems and easily lead users to malicious websites.

So far, Trojans have been crawled primarily from websites that had adult content or made it possible to download pirated software. The latest version of RSPlug has already popped up on websites that seem to allow you to download games in a completely legal way. That is, the Trojan distributors put in another deceptive trick. If the user clicks on a link on such a page, the Trojan will be placed on his computer instead of the game. You should also be careful because the Trojan is spreading through more and more websites, so it’s getting easier to stumble upon it.
